17 and he said, “Be it far from me, O Yahweh, that I should do this. (A)Shall I drink the blood of the men who went [a]at the risk of their lives?” Therefore he was not willing to drink it. These things the three mighty men did.

18 (B)Now Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was (C)chief of the [b]thirty. And he swung his spear against three hundred [c]who were slain by him; and he had a name as well as the three. 19 Of the thirty he was most honored and became their commander; however, he did not attain to the three.

18 Abishai(B) the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three.[a] He raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed, and so he became as famous as the Three. 19 Was he not held in greater honor than the Three? He became their commander, even though he was not included among them.
