⁵Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

⁶And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

⁷For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

⁸And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

⁹Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

⁵Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things?^(A) ⁶And now you know what is holding him back,^(B) so that he may be revealed at the proper time. ⁷For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back^(C) will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. ⁸And then the lawless one will be revealed,^(D) whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth^(E) and destroy by the splendor of his coming.^(F) ⁹The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan^(G) works.
