2 You heard the teaching I gave in public; pass it on to faithful people who will be capable of instructing others as well. 3 Take your share of suffering as one of Messiah Jesus’ good soldiers. 4 No one who serves in the army gets embroiled in civilian activities, since they want to please the officer who enlisted them.

2 And the things you have heard me say(A) in the presence of many witnesses(B) entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 3 Join with me in suffering,(C) like a good soldier(D) of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.
