22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:

Acts 16:20-23
New International Version
20 They brought them before the magistrates and said, “These men are Jews, and are throwing our city into an uproar(A) 21 by advocating customs unlawful for us Romans(B) to accept or practice.”(C)
22 The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods.(D) 23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer(E) was commanded to guard them carefully.

5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.
8 And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.
9 And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

Acts 17:5-10
New International Version
5 But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city.(A) They rushed to Jason’s(B) house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd.[a] 6 But when they did not find them, they dragged(C) Jason and some other believers(D) before the city officials, shouting: “These men who have caused trouble all over the world(E) have now come here,(F) 7 and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus.”(G) 8 When they heard this, the crowd and the city officials were thrown into turmoil. 9 Then they made Jason(H) and the others post bond and let them go.
In Berea
10 As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas(I) away to Berea.(J) On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue.(K)
