²³After many days had gone by, there was a conspiracy among the Jews to kill him,^(A)

²⁴But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

²⁴but Saul learned of their plan.^(A) Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him.

³²In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:
