¹⁷“After an absence of several years, I came to Jerusalem to bring my people gifts for the poor^(A) and to present offerings.

¹⁹But because the Jews objected, I was compelled ^(A)to appeal to Caesar—though I had no charge to bring against ^(B)my nation.

¹⁹The Jews objected, so I was compelled to make an appeal to Caesar.^(A) I certainly did not intend to bring any charge against my own people.
