Amos 3:6-8

Young's Literal Translation

⁶Is a trumpet blown in a city, And do people not tremble? Is there affliction in a city, And Jehovah hath not done [it]?

⁷For the Lord Jehovah doth nothing, Except He hath revealed His counsel unto His servants the prophets.

⁸A lion hath roared -- who doth not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken -- who doth not prophesy?

⁶When a trumpet^(A) sounds in a city,
do not the people tremble?
When disaster^(B) comes to a city,
has not the Lord caused it?^(C)

⁷Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing
without revealing his plan^(D)
to his servants the prophets.^(E)

⁸The lion^(F) has roared^(G)—
who will not fear?
The Sovereign Lord has spoken—
who can but prophesy?^(H)
