Amos 6:4-8
New King James Version
4 Who lie on beds of ivory,
Stretch out on your couches,
Eat lambs from the flock
And calves from the midst of the stall;
5 (A)Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments,
And invent for yourselves (B)musical instruments (C)like David;
6 Who (D)drink wine from bowls,
And anoint yourselves with the best ointments,
(E)But are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
7 Therefore they shall now go (F)captive as the first of the captives,
And those who recline at banquets shall be removed.
8 (G)The Lord God has sworn by Himself,
The Lord God of hosts says:
“I abhor (H)the pride of Jacob,
And hate his palaces;
Therefore I will deliver up the city
And all that is in it.”
Amos 6:4-8
New International Version
4 You lie on beds adorned with ivory
and lounge on your couches.(A)
You dine on choice lambs
and fattened calves.(B)
5 You strum away on your harps(C) like David
and improvise on musical instruments.(D)
6 You drink wine(E) by the bowlful
and use the finest lotions,
but you do not grieve(F) over the ruin of Joseph.(G)
7 Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile;(H)
your feasting and lounging will end.(I)
The Lord Abhors the Pride of Israel
8 The Sovereign Lord has sworn by himself(J)—the Lord God Almighty declares:
Amos 6:4-8
King James Version
4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
5 That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;
6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
7 Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.
8 The Lord God hath sworn by himself, saith the Lord the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

Amos 6:11-14
New King James Version
11 For behold, (A)the Lord gives a command:
(B)He will break the great house into bits,
And the little house into pieces.
12 Do horses run on rocks?
Does one plow there with oxen?
Yet (C)you have turned justice into gall,
And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,
13 You who rejoice over [a]Lo Debar,
Who say, “Have we not taken [b]Karnaim for ourselves
By our own strength?”
14 “But, behold, (D)I will raise up a nation against you,
O house of Israel,”
Says the Lord God of hosts;
“And they will afflict you from the (E)entrance of Hamath
To the Valley of the Arabah.”
Amos 6:11-14

and he will smash(A) the great house(B) into pieces
and the small house into bits.(C)
Amos 6:11-14
King James Version
11 For, behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
13 Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?
14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the Lord the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.
