7 to whom the commander of the officials gave names. And he gave to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s food, nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore he requested of the master of the officials that he might not defile himself. 9 Now God had brought Daniel into favor and compassion with the master of the officials.

7 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar;(A) to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.(B)
8 But Daniel resolved not to defile(C) himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. 9 Now God had caused the official to show favor(D) and compassion(E) to Daniel,
