3 But a [a]mighty King shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his pleasure.
4 And when he shall stand up, [b]his kingdom shall be broken, [c]and shall be divided toward the [d]four winds of heaven: and not to his [e]posterity, nor according to [f]his dominion, which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up even to be for others besides [g]those.
5 And the [h]King of the South shall be mighty, and one of [i]his princes, and shall prevail against him, and bear rule: his dominion shall be a great dominion.

3 Then a mighty king will arise, who will rule with great power and do as he pleases.(A) 4 After he has arisen, his empire will be broken up and parceled out toward the four winds of heaven.(B) It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the power he exercised, because his empire will be uprooted(C) and given to others.
5 “The king of the South will become strong, but one of his commanders will become even stronger than he and will rule his own kingdom with great power.
