29 Then by the king's command Daniel was clothed with purple, and a chain of gold was put about his neck: and it was proclaimed of him that he had power as the third man in the kingdom.
30 The same night Baltasar the Chaldean king was slain.
31 And Darius the Mede succeeded to the kingdom, being threescore and two years old.

New International Version
29 Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck,(A) and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.(B)
30 That very night Belshazzar,(C) king(D) of the Babylonians,[a] was slain,(E) 31 and Darius(F) the Mede(G) took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.[b]
