Then this Daniel began distinguishing himself [a]among the commissioners and satraps because [b]he possessed an (A)extraordinary spirit, and the king intended to appoint him over the (B)entire kingdom. Then the commissioners and satraps began (C)trying to find a ground of accusation against Daniel regarding [c]government affairs; but they could find (D)no ground of accusation or evidence of corruption, because he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was to be found in him. Then these men said, “We will not find any ground of accusation against this Daniel unless we find it against him regarding the (E)law of his God.”

Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.(A) At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges(B) against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”(C)
