12 and the Lord spoke to you from the fire. You could hear him and understand what he was saying, but you couldn't see him. 13 (A) The Lord said he was making an agreement with you, and he told you that your part of the agreement is to obey the Ten Commandments. Then the Lord wrote these Commandments on two flat stones.
14 (B) That's when the Lord commanded me to give you the laws and teachings you must obey in the land that you will conquer west of the Jordan River.

12 Then the Lord spoke(A) to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form;(B) there was only a voice.(C) 13 He declared to you his covenant,(D) the Ten Commandments,(E) which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets. 14 And the Lord directed me at that time to teach you the decrees and laws(F) you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
