Deuteronomy 5:24-26
American Standard Version
24 and ye said, Behold, Jehovah our God hath showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth speak with man, and he liveth. 25 Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of Jehovah our God any more, then we shall die. 26 For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

24 And you said, “The Lord our God has shown us(A) his glory and his majesty,(B) and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks with them.(C) 25 But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer.(D) 26 For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?(E)
