Ecclesiastes 6:8-10
Common English Bible
8 What advantage do the wise have over the foolish? Or what do the poor gain by knowing how to conduct themselves before the living? 9 It’s better to enjoy what’s at hand than to have an insatiable appetite. This too is pointless, just wind chasing.
10 Whatever happens has already been designated, and human beings are fully known. They can’t contend with the one who is stronger than they are.

New International Version
8 What advantage have the wise over fools?(A)
What do the poor gain
by knowing how to conduct themselves before others?
9 Better what the eye sees
than the roving of the appetite.
This too is meaningless,
a chasing after the wind.(B)
10 Whatever exists has already been named,(C)
and what humanity is has been known;
no one can contend
with someone who is stronger.
