26 Then Adonai said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, so that the waters come back upon the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen.” 27 So Moses stretched his hand out over the waters, and the sea returned to its strength at the break of dawn. The Egyptians were fleeing from it, but Adonai overthrew them in the midst of the sea. [a] 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen and the entire army of Pharaoh that went after them into the sea. Not one of them remained.
29 But Bnei-Yisrael had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were like walls to them on their right hand and on their left. 30 So Adonai saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 When Israel saw the great work that Adonai did over the Egyptians, the people feared Adonai, and they believed in Adonai and in His servant Moses.
Song of Moses and Miriam
15 Then Moses and Bnei-Yisrael sang this song to Adonai:[b]
I will sing to Adonai, for He is highly exalted!
The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea.
2 Adonai is my strength and song,
and He has become my salvation.[c]
This is my God, and I will glorify Him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.
3 Adonai is a warrior—Adonai is His Name!
4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his army
He has hurled into the sea,
and his chosen captains have sunk
into the Sea of Reeds.
5 The deeps cover them.
They sank to the depths like a stone.
6 Your right hand, Adonai, is glorious in power.
Your right hand, Adonai, dashes the enemy to pieces.
7 In the greatness of Your excellency
You overthrow those who resist You.
You send forth Your wrath—
it consumes them as stubble.
8 With the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up.
The floods stood upright as a heap.
The deeps became firm ground in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, “I will pursue,
I will overtake, I will divide the spoil.
My lust shall gorge on them!
I will draw my sword—my hand will destroy them.”
10 You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them.
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11 Who is like You, Adonai, among the gods?
Who is like You,
glorious in holiness,
awesome in praises,
doing wonders?[d]
12 You stretched out Your right hand,
the earth swallowed them.
13 You in Your lovingkindness
led the people You have redeemed.
You guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation.
14 When the peoples hear, they will tremble—
anguish will seize
the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 Then the chiefs of Edom are terrified.
Trembling grips Moab’s mighty men.
All of Canaan’s inhabitants will melt away.
16 Terror and dread will fall on them.
By the greatness of Your arm they become still as a stone,
till Your people cross over, Adonai,
till the people whom You purchased cross over.
17 You bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance,
the place, Adonai, that You have made
for Yourself to dwell in—
the Sanctuary, Adonai,
which Your hands have prepared.
18 Adonai will reign forever and ever!
19 For Pharaoh’s horses with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, but Adonai brought the waters of the sea back over them. Yet Bnei-Yisrael walked in the midst of the sea on dry ground. 20 Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing, 21 as Miriam sang to them:
Sing to Adonai, for He is highly exalted!
The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!
Bitter Waters Made Sweet
22 Then Moses led Israel onward from the Sea of Reeds. They went out into the wilderness of Shur. But they travelled three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink from the waters because they were bitter. On account of this it was called Marah. 24 So the people complained to Moses saying, “What are we going to drink?”
25 So he cried out to Adonai, and Adonai showed him a tree. When he threw it into the waters, they were made sweet.
There He made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there He tested them. 26 He said, “If you diligently listen to the voice of Adonai your God, do what is right in His eyes, pay attention to His mitzvot, and keep all His decrees, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians. For I am Adonai who heals you.”

15 אָ֣ז יָשִֽׁיר־מֹשֶׁה֩ וּבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת־הַשִּׁירָ֤ה הַזֹּאת֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ לֵאמֹ֑ר אָשִׁ֤ירָה לַֽיהוָה֙ כִּֽי־גָאֹ֣ה גָּאָ֔ה ס֥וּס וְרֹכְב֖וֹ רָמָ֥ה בַיָּֽם׃
2 עָזִּ֤י וְזִמְרָת֙ יָ֔הּ וַֽיְהִי־לִ֖י לִֽישׁוּעָ֑ה זֶ֤ה אֵלִי֙ וְאַנְוֵ֔הוּ אֱלֹהֵ֥י אָבִ֖י וַאֲרֹמְמֶֽנְהוּ׃
3 יְהוָ֖ה אִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֑ה יְהוָ֖ה שְׁמֽוֹ׃
4 מַרְכְּבֹ֥ת פַּרְעֹ֛ה וְחֵיל֖וֹ יָרָ֣ה בַיָּ֑ם וּמִבְחַ֥ר שָֽׁלִשָׁ֖יו טֻבְּע֥וּ בְיַם־סֽוּף׃
5 תְּהֹמֹ֖ת יְכַסְיֻ֑מוּ יָרְד֥וּ בִמְצוֹלֹ֖ת כְּמוֹ־אָֽבֶן׃
6 יְמִֽינְךָ֣ יְהוָ֔ה נֶאְדָּרִ֖י בַּכֹּ֑חַ יְמִֽינְךָ֥ יְהוָ֖ה תִּרְעַ֥ץ אוֹיֵֽב׃

9 אָמַ֥ר אוֹיֵ֛ב אֶרְדֹּ֥ף אַשִּׂ֖יג אֲחַלֵּ֣ק שָׁלָ֑ל תִּמְלָאֵ֣מוֹ נַפְשִׁ֔י אָרִ֣יק חַרְבִּ֔י תּוֹרִישֵׁ֖מוֹ יָדִֽי׃
10 נָשַׁ֥פְתָּ בְרוּחֲךָ֖ כִּסָּ֣מוֹ יָ֑ם צָֽלֲלוּ֙ כַּֽעוֹפֶ֔רֶת בְּמַ֖יִם אַדִּירִֽים׃
11 מִֽי־כָמֹ֤כָה בָּֽאֵלִם֙ יְהוָ֔ה מִ֥י כָּמֹ֖כָה נֶאְדָּ֣ר בַּקֹּ֑דֶשׁ נוֹרָ֥א תְהִלֹּ֖ת עֹ֥שֵׂה פֶֽלֶא׃
12 נָטִ֙יתָ֙ יְמִ֣ינְךָ֔ תִּבְלָעֵ֖מוֹ אָֽרֶץ׃
13 נָחִ֥יתָ בְחַסְדְּךָ֖ עַם־ז֣וּ גָּאָ֑לְתָּ נֵהַ֥לְתָּ בְעָזְּךָ֖ אֶל־נְוֵ֥ה קָדְשֶֽׁךָ׃
14 שָֽׁמְע֥וּ עַמִּ֖ים יִרְגָּז֑וּן חִ֣יל אָחַ֔ז יֹשְׁבֵ֖י פְּלָֽשֶׁת׃
15 אָ֤ז נִבְהֲלוּ֙ אַלּוּפֵ֣י אֱד֔וֹם אֵילֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב יֹֽאחֲזֵ֖מוֹ רָ֑עַד נָמֹ֕גוּ כֹּ֖ל יֹשְׁבֵ֥י כְנָֽעַן׃
16 תִּפֹּ֨ל עֲלֵיהֶ֤ם אֵימָ֙תָה֙ וָפַ֔חַד בִּגְדֹ֥ל זְרוֹעֲךָ֖ יִדְּמ֣וּ כָּאָ֑בֶן עַד־יַעֲבֹ֤ר עַמְּךָ֙ יְהוָ֔ה עַֽד־יַעֲבֹ֖ר עַם־ז֥וּ קָנִֽיתָ׃

26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” 27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place.(A) The Egyptians were fleeing toward[a] it, and the Lord swept them into the sea.(B) 28 The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea.(C) Not one of them survived.(D)
29 But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground,(E) with a wall(F) of water on their right and on their left. 30 That day the Lord saved(G) Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. 31 And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand(H) of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared(I) the Lord and put their trust(J) in him and in Moses his servant.
The Song of Moses and Miriam
15 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song(K) to the Lord:
“I will sing(L) to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver(M)
he has hurled into the sea.(N)
2 “The Lord is my strength(O) and my defense[b];
he has become my salvation.(P)
He is my God,(Q) and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt(R) him.
3 The Lord is a warrior;(S)
the Lord is his name.(T)
4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his army(U)
he has hurled into the sea.
The best of Pharaoh’s officers
are drowned in the Red Sea.[c]
5 The deep waters(V) have covered them;
they sank to the depths like a stone.(W)
6 Your right hand,(X) Lord,
was majestic in power.
Your right hand,(Y) Lord,
shattered(Z) the enemy.
7 “In the greatness of your majesty(AA)
you threw down those who opposed you.
You unleashed your burning anger;(AB)
it consumed(AC) them like stubble.
8 By the blast of your nostrils(AD)
the waters piled up.(AE)
The surging waters stood up like a wall;(AF)
the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.(AG)
9 The enemy boasted,
‘I will pursue,(AH) I will overtake them.
I will divide the spoils;(AI)
I will gorge myself on them.
I will draw my sword
and my hand will destroy them.’
10 But you blew with your breath,(AJ)
and the sea covered them.
They sank like lead
in the mighty waters.(AK)
11 Who among the gods
is like you,(AL) Lord?
Who is like you—
majestic in holiness,(AM)
awesome in glory,(AN)
working wonders?(AO)
12 “You stretch out(AP) your right hand,
and the earth swallows your enemies.(AQ)
13 In your unfailing love you will lead(AR)
the people you have redeemed.(AS)
In your strength you will guide them
to your holy dwelling.(AT)
14 The nations will hear and tremble;(AU)
anguish(AV) will grip the people of Philistia.(AW)

the leaders of Moab will be seized with trembling,(AZ)
the people[d] of Canaan will melt(BA) away;
16 terror(BB) and dread will fall on them.
By the power of your arm
they will be as still as a stone(BC)—
until your people pass by, Lord,
until the people you bought[e](BD) pass by.(BE)
17 You will bring(BF) them in and plant(BG) them
on the mountain(BH) of your inheritance—
the place, Lord, you made for your dwelling,(BI)
the sanctuary,(BJ) Lord, your hands established.
18 “The Lord reigns
for ever and ever.”(BK)
19 When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen[f] went into the sea,(BL) the Lord brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.(BM) 20 Then Miriam(BN) the prophet,(BO) Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels(BP) and dancing.(BQ) 21 Miriam sang(BR) to them:
“Sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver(BS)
he has hurled into the sea.”(BT)
The Waters of Marah and Elim
22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert(BU) of Shur.(BV) For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.(BW) 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.[g](BX)) 24 So the people grumbled(BY) against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?”(BZ)
25 Then Moses cried out(CA) to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw(CB) it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test.(CC) 26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep(CD) all his decrees,(CE) I will not bring on you any of the diseases(CF) I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals(CG) you.”
