Footnotes

  1. Exodus 27:2 The horns are protuberances at the four corners of the altar. They are especially holy: they are to be smeared with the blood of victims (see Ex 29:12), like the horns of the altar of incense (Ex 30:10). Anyone touching them could claim asylum (1 Ki 1:50; 2:28).

Make a horn(A) at each of the four corners, so that the horns and the altar are of one piece, and overlay the altar with bronze. Make all its utensils of bronze—its pots to remove the ashes, and its shovels, sprinkling bowls,(B) meat forks and firepans.(C) Make a grating for it, a bronze network, and make a bronze ring at each of the four corners of the network.
