¹⁷ When Ahab saw Elijah, ^(A)Ahab said to him, “Is this you, the cause of disaster to Israel?” ¹⁸ He said, “I have not brought disaster to Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because ^(B)you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and ^(C)you have followed the Baals.

²⁰ Then Ahab said to Elijah, “^(A)Have you found me, enemy of mine?” And he ^[a]answered, “I have found you, ^(B)because you have given yourself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord.

⁹ For all of them were trying to frighten us, ^[a]thinking, “^[b]They will become discouraged with the work and it will not be done.” But now, ^(A)God, strengthen my hands.

Amos Accused; Gives an Answer

¹⁰ Then Amaziah, the ^(A)priest of Bethel, sent word to ^(B)Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has ^(C)conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is unable to endure all his words.
