21 And the [a]fish that was in the river died, and the river stank: so that the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river: and there was blood throughout the land of Egypt.

22 And the enchanters of Egypt did [b]likewise with their sorceries: and the heart of Pharaoh was [c]hardened: so that he did not hearken unto them, as the Lord hath said.

23 Then Pharaoh returned, and went again into his house, [d]neither did this yet enter into his heart.

21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.

22 But the Egyptian magicians(A) did the same things by their secret arts,(B) and Pharaoh’s heart(C) became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said. 23 Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart.
