Ezekiel 20:24-26

24 because they did not do my regulations, and my statutes they despised, and my Sabbaths they profaned, and their eyes were after the idols of their ancestors.[a] 25 And in turn I gave to them rules that were not good and regulations by which they will not live.[b] 26 And I defiled them through their gifts in sacrificing all of the first offspring of the womb, in order that[c] I will cause them to be stunned, so that they will know that I am Yahweh.

24 because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees(A) and desecrated my Sabbaths,(B) and their eyes lusted after(C) their parents’ idols.(D) 25 So I gave(E) them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live;(F) 26 I defiled them through their gifts—the sacrifice(G) of every firstborn—that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the Lord.(H)’
