Ezekiel 20:24-26
New American Standard Bible
24 because they had not [a]complied with My ordinances, but had rejected My statutes and had profaned My Sabbaths, and (A)their eyes were [b]on the idols of their fathers. 25 I also gave them statutes that were (B)not good, and ordinances by which they could not live; 26 and I pronounced them (C)unclean because of their gifts, in that they (D)made all [c]their firstborn pass through the fire so that I might make them desolate, in order that they might (E)know that I am the Lord.”’

New International Version
24 because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees(A) and desecrated my Sabbaths,(B) and their eyes lusted after(C) their parents’ idols.(D) 25 So I gave(E) them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live;(F) 26 I defiled them through their gifts—the sacrifice(G) of every firstborn—that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the Lord.(H)’
