Ezekiel 7:25-27

²⁵When anguish comes, they will seek ^(A)peace, but there will be none. ²⁶^(B)Disaster will come upon disaster and ^(C)rumor will be added to rumor; then they will seek a ^(D)vision from a prophet, but the ^(E)Law will be lost from the priest, and ^(F)counsel from the elders. ²⁷The king will mourn, the prince will be ^(G)clothed in horror, and the hands of the people of the land will ^[a]tremble. I will deal with them because of their conduct, and by their judgments I will judge them. And they will know that I am the Lord.’”

    and rumor upon rumor.
They will go searching for a vision from the prophet,^(C)
    priestly instruction in the law will cease,
    the counsel of the elders will come to an end.^(D)
²⁷The king will mourn,
    the prince will be clothed with despair,^(E)
    and the hands of the people of the land will tremble.
I will deal with them according to their conduct,^(F)
    and by their own standards I will judge them.
