The Temple Finished and Dedicated

13 Then, according to the word sent by Darius the king, (A)Tattenai, the governor of the province Beyond the River, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates did with all diligence what Darius the king had ordered. 14 (B)And the elders of the Jews built and prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. They finished their building by decree of the God of Israel and (C)by decree of Cyrus and (D)Darius and (E)Artaxerxes king of Persia; 15 and this house was finished on the third day of the (F)month of Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

16 And the people of Israel, the priests and the Levites, and the rest of the returned exiles, celebrated the (G)dedication of this house of God with joy. 17 They offered at the dedication of this house of God 100 bulls, 200 rams, 400 lambs, and as a sin offering for all Israel (H)12 male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel. 18 And they set the priests (I)in their divisions and the Levites (J)in their divisions, for the service of God at Jerusalem, (K)as it is written in the Book of Moses.

Completion and Dedication of the Temple

13 Then, because of the decree King Darius had sent, Tattenai, governor of Trans-Euphrates, and Shethar-Bozenai and their associates(A) carried it out with diligence. 14 So the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching(B) of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah, a descendant of Iddo. They finished building the temple according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus,(C) Darius(D) and Artaxerxes,(E) kings of Persia. 15 The temple was completed on the third day of the month Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.(F)

16 Then the people of Israel—the priests, the Levites and the rest of the exiles—celebrated the dedication(G) of the house of God with joy. 17 For the dedication of this house of God they offered(H) a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred male lambs and, as a sin offering[a] for all Israel, twelve male goats, one for each of the tribes of Israel. 18 And they installed the priests in their divisions(I) and the Levites in their groups(J) for the service of God at Jerusalem, according to what is written in the Book of Moses.(K)
