⁴⁷And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

⁴⁷Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed.^[a]^(A)

Genesis 31:47 The Aramaic Jegar Sahadutha and the Hebrew Galeed both mean witness heap.

⁴⁸And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;

⁴⁸Laban said, “This heap^(A) is a witness between you and me today.”^(B) That is why it was called Galeed.
