Genesis 35:9-15

New International Version

⁹After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram,^[a]^(A) God appeared to him again and blessed him.^(B) ¹⁰God said to him, “Your name is Jacob,^[b] but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.^[c]”^(C) So he named him Israel.

¹¹And God said to him, “I am God Almighty^[d];^(D) be fruitful and increase in number.^(E) A nation^(F) and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.^(G) ¹²The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.^(H)”^(I) ¹³Then God went up from him^(J) at the place where he had talked with him.

¹⁴Jacob set up a stone pillar^(K) at the place where God had talked with him, and he poured out a drink offering^(L) on it; he also poured oil on it.^(M) ¹⁵Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel.^[e]^(N)

⁹And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.

¹⁰And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.

¹¹And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;

¹²And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.

¹³And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.

¹⁴And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.

¹⁵And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.
