³⁴ you shall say, ‘Your servants have been ^[a](A)keepers of livestock since our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ so that you may live in the land of ^(B)Goshen; for every shepherd is an ^(C)abomination to the Egyptians.”

²⁶ But Moses said, “It is not permissible for us to do so, because we will sacrifice to the Lord our God ^[a]that which is ^(A)an abomination to the Egyptians. If we sacrifice ^[b]that which is an abomination to the Egyptians before their eyes, will they not stone us?
