12 As the sun was going down, a (A)deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him. 13 Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain (B)that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and (C)they will be afflicted for (D)four hundred years. 14 But (E)I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward (F)they shall come out with great possessions.

12 As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep,(A) and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. 13 Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years(B) your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved(C) and mistreated there. 14 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out(D) with great possessions.(E)
