²On the sixth^[a] day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done.^(A)

²By the seventh day^(A) God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.^(B)

³So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation.^(A)

³Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy,^(A) because on it he rested^(B) from all the work of creating^(C) that he had done.
