⁴⁰ Indeed, ^(A)I raise My hand to heaven,
And say, as I live forever,
^41 (B)If I have sharpened ^[a]My flashing sword,
And My hand has taken hold of justice,
^(C)I will return vengeance on My adversaries,
And I will repay those who hate Me.

⁸ The Lord ^[a]God has ^(A)sworn by Himself, the Lord God of armies has declared:
“I ^(B)loathe the arrogance of Jacob,
And ^[b]detest his ^(C)citadels;
Therefore I will ^(D)give up the city and ^[c]all it contains.”
