12 Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:
13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
14 And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
15 Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.
18 And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.
19 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:
20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
21 And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the Lord.
23 And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
26 And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

Ishmael’s Sons(A)
12 This is the account(B) of the family line of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Sarah’s slave, Hagar(C) the Egyptian, bore to Abraham.(D)
13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth(E) the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar,(F) Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah,(G) Massa, 15 Hadad, Tema,(H) Jetur,(I) Naphish and Kedemah. 16 These were the sons of Ishmael, and these are the names of the twelve tribal rulers(J) according to their settlements and camps.(K) 17 Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people.(L) 18 His descendants(M) settled in the area from Havilah to Shur,(N) near the eastern border of Egypt, as you go toward Ashur. And they lived in hostility toward[a] all the tribes related to them.(O)
Jacob and Esau
19 This is the account(P) of the family line of Abraham’s son Isaac.
Abraham became the father of Isaac, 20 and Isaac was forty years old(Q) when he married Rebekah(R) daughter of Bethuel(S) the Aramean from Paddan Aram[b](T) and sister of Laban(U) the Aramean.(V)
21 Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless.(W) The Lord answered his prayer,(X) and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. 22 The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.(Y)
23 The Lord said to her,
“Two nations(Z) are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you will be separated;
one people will be stronger than the other,
and the older will serve the younger.(AA)”
24 When the time came for her to give birth,(AB) there were twin boys in her womb.(AC) 25 The first to come out was red,(AD) and his whole body was like a hairy garment;(AE) so they named him Esau.[c](AF) 26 After this, his brother came out,(AG) with his hand grasping Esau’s heel;(AH) so he was named Jacob.[d](AI) Isaac was sixty years old(AJ) when Rebekah gave birth to them.
27 The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter,(AK) a man of the open country,(AL) while Jacob was content to stay at home among the tents.
