7 Now when Jacob’s sons heard of it they came in from the field; they were deeply grieved, and they were very angry, for Shechem had done a disgraceful thing to [a]Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter, for such a thing is not to be done.

7 Meanwhile, Jacob’s sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were shocked(A) and furious,(B) because Shechem had done an outrageous thing in[a] Israel(C) by sleeping with Jacob’s daughter—a thing that should not be done.(D)
