Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife

39 Now Joseph was taken down to Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there.^(A)

⁴ Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me.” And they came closer. He said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.^(A)

⁵ And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.^(A)

³ For whenever the Israelites put in seed, the Midianites and the Amalekites and the people of the east would come up against them.^(A)
