13 Dixitque Cain ad Dominum: Major est iniquitas mea, quam ut veniam merear.

14 Ecce ejicis me hodie a facie terrae, et a facie tua abscondar, et ero vagus et profugus in terra: omnis igitur qui invenerit me, occidet me.

15 Dixitque ei Dominus: Nequaquam ita fiet: sed omnis qui occiderit Cain, septuplum punietur. Posuitque Dominus Cain signum, ut non interficeret eum omnis qui invenisset eum.

13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence;(A) I will be a restless wanderer on the earth,(B) and whoever finds me will kill me.”(C)

15 But the Lord said to him, “Not so[a]; anyone who kills Cain(D) will suffer vengeance(E) seven times over.(F)” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.
