^26 (A)All the people belonging to Jacob, who came to Egypt, ^[a]his direct descendants, not including the wives of Jacob’s sons, were sixty-six persons in all, ²⁷ and the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were ^[b]two; ^(B)all the people of the house of Jacob, who came to Egypt, were seventy.

²⁷ The Lord will ^(A)scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord drives you.
