Hebrews 4:8-10

⁸We know that Joshua^[a] did not lead the people into that rest, because God spoke later about another day. ⁹This shows that the rest^[b] for God’s people is still coming. ¹⁰Anyone who enters God’s rest will rest from his work as God did.

4:9 rest Literally, “sabbath rest,” meaning a sharing in the rest that God began after he created the world.

⁸For if Joshua had given them rest,^(A) God would not have spoken^(B) later about another day. ⁹There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; ¹⁰for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,^[a]^(C) just as God did from his.^(D)
