who serve a sketch and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned when he[a] was about to complete the tabernacle, for he says, “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern which was shown to you on the mountain.”[b] But now he has attained a more excellent ministry, by as much as he is also mediator of a better covenant which has been enacted upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, occasion would not have been sought for a second.

They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy(A) and shadow(B) of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned(C) when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”[a](D) But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant(E) of which he is mediator(F) is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(G)
