17 For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more.(A) 18 I will make for you[a] a covenant on that day with the wild animals, the birds of the air, and the creeping things of the ground, and I will abolish[b] the bow, the sword, and war from the land, and I will make you[c] lie down in safety.(B) 19 And I will take you for my wife forever; I will take you for my wife in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.(C)

17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips;(A)
no longer will their names be invoked.(B)
18 In that day I will make a covenant for them
with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky
and the creatures that move along the ground.(C)
Bow and sword and battle
I will abolish(D) from the land,
so that all may lie down in safety.(E)
19 I will betroth(F) you to me forever;
I will betroth you in[a] righteousness and justice,(G)
in[b] love and compassion.(H)
