(A)The Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You (B)have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets as well; and yet You say, ‘If anyone (C)follows My word, he will never (D)taste of death.’ 53 You (E)are not greater than our father Abraham, who died, are You? The prophets died too. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?” 54 Jesus answered, “(F)If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; (G)it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God’; 55 and (H)you have not come to know Him, (I)but I know Him. And if I say that I do not know Him, I will be (J)a liar like you; (K)but I do know Him, and I (L)follow His word. 56 (M)Your father Abraham was (N)overjoyed that he would see My day, and he saw it and rejoiced.” 57 (O)So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and You have seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham [a]was born, [b](P)I am.” 59 Therefore they (Q)picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus (R)hid Himself and left the temple grounds.

At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed!(A) Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham?(B) He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?”
Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself,(C) my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.(D) 55 Though you do not know him,(E) I know him.(F) If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word.(G) 56 Your father Abraham(H) rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it(I) and was glad.”
“You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”
“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born,(J) I am!”(K) 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him,(L) but Jesus hid himself,(M) slipping away from the temple grounds.
