⁶ I have posted watchmen^(A) on your walls, Jerusalem;
    they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the Lord,
    give yourselves no rest,^(B)

⁷ and give him no rest^(A) till he establishes Jerusalem
    and makes her the praise^(B) of the earth.

⁸ The Lord has sworn^(C) by his right hand
    and by his mighty arm:
“Never again will I give your grain^(D)
    as food for your enemies,
and never again will foreigners drink the new wine
    for which you have toiled;
⁹ but those who harvest it will eat^(E) it
    and praise the Lord,^(F)
and those who gather the grapes will drink it
    in the courts of my sanctuary.”^(G)

¹⁰ Pass through, pass through the gates!^(H)
    Prepare the way for the people.
Build up, build up the highway!^(I)
    Remove the stones.
Raise a banner^(J) for the nations.

¹³ You will arise^(A) and have compassion^(B) on Zion,
    for it is time^(C) to show favor^(D) to her;
    the appointed time^(E) has come.
¹⁴ For her stones are dear to your servants;
    her very dust moves them to pity.
¹⁵ The nations will fear^(F) the name of the Lord,
    all the kings^(G) of the earth will revere your glory.
¹⁶ For the Lord will rebuild Zion^(H)
    and appear in his glory.^(I)
17 He will respond to the prayer^(J) of the destitute;
    he will not despise their plea.

¹⁹ “The Lord looked down^(A) from his sanctuary on high,
    from heaven he viewed the earth,
²⁰ to hear the groans of the prisoners^(B)
    and release those condemned to death.”
²¹ So the name of the Lord will be declared^(C) in Zion
    and his praise^(D) in Jerusalem
