Isaiah 22:22-24

Good News Translation

²²^(A)I will give him complete authority under the king, the descendant of David. He will have the keys of office; what he opens, no one will shut, and what he shuts, no one will open. ²³I will fasten him firmly in place like a peg, and he will be a source of honor to his whole family.

²⁴“But all his relatives and dependents will become a burden to him. They will hang on him like pots and bowls hanging from a peg!

New International Version

²²I will place on his shoulder^(A) the key^(B) to the house of David;^(C) what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.^(D) ²³I will drive him like a peg^(E) into a firm place;^(F) he will become a seat^[a] of honor^(G) for the house of his father. ²⁴All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots—all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars.
