Isaiah 36:6-8
World English Bible
6 Behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, which if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him. 7 But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar?’” 8 Now therefore, please make a pledge to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.

6 Look, I know you are depending(A) on Egypt,(B) that splintered reed(C) of a staff, which pierces the hand of anyone who leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him. 7 But if you say to me, “We are depending(D) on the Lord our God”—isn’t he the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed,(E) saying to Judah and Jerusalem, “You must worship before this altar”?(F)
8 “‘Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses(G)—if you can put riders on them!
