Isaiah 6:7-9

International Standard Version

⁷He touched my mouth and said, “Look! Now that this has touched your^[a] lips, your guilt is taken away, and your sins^[b] atoned for.”

⁸Then I heard the voice of the Lord as he was asking, “Whom will I send? Who will go for us?”

“Here I am!” I replied. “Send me.”

⁹“Go!” he responded. “Tell this people:

“‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
keep^[c] on seeing, but do not perceive.’

⁷With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips;^(A) your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.^(B)”

⁸Then I heard the voice^(C) of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?^(D) And who will go for us?^(E)”

And I said, “Here am I.^(F) Send me!”

⁹He said, “Go^(G) and tell this people:

“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’^(H)
