²⁵ Therefore the Lord’s anger^(A) burns against his people;
    his hand is raised and he strikes them down.
The mountains shake,^(B)
    and the dead bodies^(C) are like refuse^(D) in the streets.^(E)

Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,^(F)
    his hand is still upraised.^(G)

¹⁶ What are you doing here and who gave you permission
    to cut out a grave^(A) for yourself^(B) here,
hewing your grave on the height
    and chiseling your resting place in the rock?

¹⁷ “Beware, the Lord is about to take firm hold of you
    and hurl^(C) you away, you mighty man.
¹⁸ He will roll you up tightly like a ball
    and throw^(D) you into a large country.
There you will die
    and there the chariots^(E) you were so proud of
    will become a disgrace to your master’s house.
