James 2:2-4

2 For if a man comes into your [a]assembly with a gold ring and dressed in (A)bright clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in (B)dirty clothes, 3 and you [b]pay special attention to the one who is wearing the (C)bright clothes, and say, “You sit here in a good place,” and you say to the poor man, “You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,” 4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges (D)with evil thoughts?

2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges(A) with evil thoughts?
