²¹Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

²²You see that his faith and his actions were working together,^(A) and his faith was made complete by what he did.^(B)

²²Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

⁵But if anyone obeys his word,^(A) love for God^[a] is truly made complete in them.^(B) This is how we know^(C) we are in him:

⁵But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
