13 “For My people have done two evils:
They have forsaken Me,
The (A)fountain of living waters,
To hew for themselves (B)cisterns,
Broken cisterns
That can hold no water.
14 “Is Israel (C)a slave? Or is he a homeborn slave?
Why has he become plunder?
15 The young (D)lions have roared at him;
They have given forth their voice.
And they have (E)made his land a desolation;
His cities have been turned into ruin, without inhabitant.

and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
14 Is Israel a servant, a slave(C) by birth?
Why then has he become plunder?
15 Lions(D) have roared;
they have growled at him.
They have laid waste(E) his land;
his towns are burned(F) and deserted.(G)
