Jeremiah 2:21-23

21 “Yet I (A)planted you a choice vine,
A completely faithful seed.
How then have you turned yourself before Me
Into the (B)degenerate shoots of a foreign vine?
22 “Although you (C)wash yourself with lye
And [a]use much soap,
The (D)stain of your iniquity is before Me,” declares the Lord [b]God.
23 “(E)How can you say, ‘I am not defiled,
I have not gone after the (F)Baals’?
Look at your way in the (G)valley!
Know what you have done!
You are a swift young camel (H)entangling her ways,

and use an abundance of cleansing powder,
the stain of your guilt is still before me,”
declares the Sovereign Lord.(F)

I have not run after the Baals’?(H)
See how you behaved in the valley;(I)
consider what you have done.
You are a swift she-camel
