Jeremiah 2:24-26
English Standard Version
24 (A)a wild donkey used to the wilderness,
in her heat sniffing the wind!
Who can restrain her lust?
None who seek her need weary themselves;
in her month they will find her.
25 Keep (B)your feet from going unshod
and (C)your throat from thirst.
But you said, ‘It is hopeless,
(D)for I have loved foreigners,
and after them I will go.’
26 “As a thief is shamed when caught,
so the house of Israel shall be shamed:
(E)they, their kings, their officials,
their priests, and their prophets,

24 a wild donkey(A) accustomed to the desert,(B)
sniffing the wind in her craving—
in her heat who can restrain her?
Any males that pursue her need not tire themselves;
at mating time they will find her.
25 Do not run until your feet are bare
and your throat is dry.
But you said, ‘It’s no use!(C)
I love foreign gods,(D)
and I must go after them.’(E)
