I will build you up again,
    and you, Virgin(A) Israel, will be rebuilt.(B)
Again you will take up your timbrels(C)
    and go out to dance(D) with the joyful.(E)
Again you will plant(F) vineyards
    on the hills of Samaria;(G)
the farmers will plant them
    and enjoy their fruit.(H)
There will be a day when watchmen(I) cry out
    on the hills of Ephraim,
‘Come, let us go up to Zion,
    to the Lord our God.’”(J)

This is what the Lord says:

“Sing(K) with joy for Jacob;
    shout for the foremost(L) of the nations.
Make your praises heard, and say,
    Lord, save(M) your people,
    the remnant(N) of Israel.’
See, I will bring them from the land of the north(O)
    and gather(P) them from the ends of the earth.
Among them will be the blind(Q) and the lame,(R)
    expectant mothers and women in labor;
    a great throng will return.
They will come with weeping;(S)
    they will pray as I bring them back.
I will lead(T) them beside streams of water(U)
    on a level(V) path where they will not stumble,
because I am Israel’s father,(W)
    and Ephraim is my firstborn son.

10 “Hear the word of the Lord, you nations;
    proclaim it in distant coastlands:(X)
‘He who scattered(Y) Israel will gather(Z) them
    and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’(AA)
11 For the Lord will deliver Jacob
    and redeem(AB) them from the hand of those stronger(AC) than they.
12 They will come and shout for joy(AD) on the heights(AE) of Zion;
    they will rejoice in the bounty(AF) of the Lord
the grain, the new wine and the olive oil,(AG)
    the young of the flocks(AH) and herds.
They will be like a well-watered garden,(AI)
    and they will sorrow(AJ) no more.
13 Then young women will dance and be glad,
    young men and old as well.
I will turn their mourning(AK) into gladness;
    I will give them comfort(AL) and joy(AM) instead of sorrow.

Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.

For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God.

For thus saith the Lord; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

10 Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

11 For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Again (A)I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt,
O virgin of Israel!
You shall again be adorned with your (B)tambourines,
And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.
(C)You shall yet plant vines on the mountains of Samaria;
The planters shall plant and [a]eat them as ordinary food.
For there shall be a day
When the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim,
(D)‘Arise, and let us go up to Zion,
To the Lord our God.’ ”

For thus says the Lord:

(E)“Sing with gladness for Jacob,
And shout among the chief of the nations;
Proclaim, give praise, and say,
‘O Lord, save Your people,
The remnant of Israel!’
Behold, I will bring them (F)from the north country,
And (G)gather them from the ends of the earth,
Among them the blind and the lame,
The woman with child
And the one who labors with child, together;
A great throng shall return there.
(H)They shall come with weeping,
And with supplications I will lead them.
I will cause them to walk (I)by the rivers of waters,
In a straight way in which they shall not stumble;
For I am a Father to Israel,
And Ephraim is My (J)firstborn.

10 “Hear the word of the Lord, O nations,
And declare it in the [b]isles afar off, and say,
‘He who scattered Israel (K)will gather him,
And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’
11 For (L)the Lord has redeemed Jacob,
And ransomed him (M)from the hand of one stronger than he.
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in (N)the height of Zion,
Streaming to (O)the goodness of the Lord
For wheat and new wine and oil,
For the young of the flock and the herd;
Their souls shall be like a (P)well-watered garden,
(Q)And they shall sorrow no more at all.

13 “Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance,
And the young men and the old, together;
For I will turn their mourning to joy,
Will comfort them,
And make them rejoice rather than sorrow.
