4 And I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the room of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, the man of God. This room was near the room of the leaders and above the room of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the doorkeeper. 5 Then I set jars full of wine and some cups in front of the men of the Rechabite family. And I said to them, “Drink wine.” 6 But they said, “We will not drink wine. For Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, told us, ‘You and your sons must never drink wine.

4 I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the room of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah the man of God.(A) It was next to the room of the officials, which was over that of Maaseiah son of Shallum(B) the doorkeeper.(C) 5 Then I set bowls full of wine and some cups before the Rekabites and said to them, “Drink some wine.”
6 But they replied, “We do not drink wine, because our forefather Jehonadab[a](D) son of Rekab gave us this command: ‘Neither you nor your descendants must ever drink wine.(E)
